They’re expensive, useless, inefficient, wasteful, dirty and noisy. They’re ostentatious and gaudy and not particularly easy to live with. Some of them are frightening. Many are hard to drive. Most are hard to even see out of. But boy do we love them – we love them with our very souls. Supercars.
The purest and the most extreme expression of automotive performance there is, trunding around the roads and revving their engines and raising a single finger to automotive political correctness everywhere. Long may it continue.
Supercars will always be with us, of course, because there will always be a demand for fast, spectacular automobiles. But they’re changing because they have to change. Soon they will need to become cleaner by law. there can be no argument against the logic of that, of course, but who know how to drive to ever-greater efficiency will shape things? Perhaps we’ll look back on the early 21st century and say: ‘that was the golden age’. So let’s enjoy these magnificent supercars while we can.
